Year 6 Trip to Wimbledon Bookfest

In September, Year 6 were lucky enough to attend a talk at Wimbledon Theatre with the brilliant Joseph Coelho as part of Wimbledon Bookfest.

Joseph spoke about his new book 'Relic Hamilton Genie Hunter' whilst entertaining the audience with stories about his childhood, growing up in nearby Roehampton.

After the talk, we were lucky enough to each receive a copy of the book which Joseph also kindly signed for us!

It was a fantastic experience which inspired us all to go home and write poems and stories!

Lacrosse Festival

A group of Year 6 pupils were recently chosen to represent St Matthew's at the Merton Lacrosse Festival. The children had some experience playing Lacrosse, having taken part in sessions whilst they were in Year 5. The festival developed their skills and also allowed the players to apply their skills in some friendly games with other Merton schools.

The team played brilliantly whilst demonstrating superb teamwork skills and sportsmanship.

Well done to everyone involved and thank you to Mrs Sullivan for accompanying the team!
