Year 1 Highlights
Pentecost and Languages Week
We learned all about Pentecost in a special worship led by Mrs. Warner.
During languages week, each class selected a language to learn more about.
In Year One, we learned some Indonesian, including a range of phrases, as well as our school motto ‘Friendship, Discovery, Prayer.’
We were also very grateful to have so many parents and carers come into our class to read us stories and teach us facts about Hungarian, German, Persian, Italian, and Greek.
Polka Theatre - Jack V. Giant
Willow class went to the Polka Theatre to see Jack V. Giant. This built on our learning about traditional fairy tales. Although we all know and love the old tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, this version had a twist. It was an excellent opportunity for the children to see how stories can evolve and change over time. We really enjoyed our journey to the theatre by bus as well as being in the theatre. It was a real treat and what a fantastic day we had!
Parts of a Plant Artwork
We have been learning about Plants in Science. We created art, showing the parts of a plant.
We learned the function of each part of the plant and used our artwork to discuss what we had learned.
Please take a look at our fabulous art!
Safer Internet Day 2023
This year the theme for Internet Safety Day was: 'Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online.'
In Year 1 we talked about how we use technology. We spoke about the wonderful things that you can see and do on the internet but also how we can keep ourselves safe. We read ‘Hanni and the Magic Window,’ a story about speaking out and getting help about issues we are upset or worried about.
Together we created a poster sharing what we used technology for in our daily lives.
