Hockey Tournament March 2019

On Thursday morning 17 Hockey Players from year 4, 5 and 6 left St Matthew’s heading towards Raynes Park High School, to compete in the Merton Primary School Hockey Tournament, organised by Merton in partnership with Wimbledon Hockey. We fielded 3 teams and were welcomed by Coaches who put the teams through their paces to warm up. Then the games began. Each team played 4 games, and the scores started coming in, 3-0, 2-0, 2-0, 2-2 and 5-0 for the last game. We won or drew every game. The Cup was ours and so was the Shield and the Plate. We came first, first and second. More importantly the children were excellent ambassadors for St Matthew’s. Their behaviour was excellent all the way through, supporting each other from the side lines and showing true sportsmanship on the field. Our new kit also brought us together. Thanks to all the parents who supported us.
