In Year 3 the children spend three days at New Barn in the beautiful Dorset countryside. They have an action packed time, doing everything from pottery workshops and orienteering to wildlife walks and spending a morning in an Iron Age roundhouse, learning more about how people lived. The children grow up so much during this first school trip away from home, and always come back bursting with everything they have done.
In Year 4 the children go on a residential camping trip to The Thames Young Mariners Centre in Ham. They spend 2 nights sleeping in Tipis and throughout the day take part in Canoeing, Raft Building, Forest Skills, Team Building Adventure Courses and Rock Climbing. The children have a great time and learn lots of new skills.
During the Summer Term in Year 5 the children study the Victorians. To bring this topic to life the children spend a week in Ironbridge , the World Heritage Site in Shropshire. Ironbridge was the home of the very first iron blast furnace and was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution during the Victorian period. The children travel part of the way there on a Steam Train and visit museums and factories and the fascinating Enginuity. Two wonderful and memorable days are spent dressed in Victorian costume at Blists Hill Victorian Town, and the Black Country Living Museum.
In Year 6 the children travel to Normandy. They stay in a gite or a chateau and try to practise their French and soak up the French culture, whilst having a huge amount of fun.
